At the Service Unit Meetings, plan to have your Troop Leaders and Troop Parents sign up for at least one committee for a Service Unit Event. We have the following committees in need of members (and more form all the time!):
CAMPOREE/CAMP-OUT
This is a once-every-three-year Service-Unit-Wide campout - just like a jamboree! Girl Scouts from 1st grade and up attend the Camporee. (If you think your 1st graders are too young - think again - we have had our 1st graders attend and they come back to Camporee every time!) The younger scouts just come for the day, the middle-age scouts camp one overnight, and the older scouts camp both nights. The girls design and vote on the Camporee patch. Each Troop offers activities, and also gets to participate in all the activities too! It is a “not-to-miss” event!

Each year, the Cookie Kickoff is the “kickoff” fun event to get out Girl Scouts excited and knowledgeable about selling Girl Scouts Cookies! Help coordinate this pep rally - an event of screaming girls, activities and all-things-Girl-Scouts! The more the girls sell, the more they have for Troop funds for a great scouting year!

FRONTIER FIELD CAMP-IN
It's easy to coordinate the Frontier Field Camp-In just for Girl Scouts. This Camp-In brings the Pittsford Service Unit Girl Scouts together for an overnight Camp-In with other Girl Scouts Service Units. Enjoy the Red Wings baseball game, then stay after the game to pitch tents in the outfield, watch a movie, tons of food and fun!

LEADER/DAUGHTER
The Leader/Daughter event is a special one-day event for a Leader and her daughter to enjoy together. Your daughter has to "share" you via Girl Scouts during the scouting year - this event is a special event just for the two of you! We also recognize your role and efforts as a Leader for our Girl Scouts. Please help coordinate this treat!

Join all our local community groups, law enforcement, fire department and so many more community organizations in celebrating Memorial Day, our community, and those that have made our community and our country great! Coordinate announcements and registrations for the Troops attending the parade, and coordinate the ceremony at the cemetery.

MISSION GIRL SCOUTS
Mission Girl Scouts is a one-evening event for Girl Scouts in grades 5 and 6, as well as their parents, to learn about (via fun!) continuing Girl Scouts into middle school and high school. The girls get a school scavenger hunt to learn their way around the school, complete a craft, and get to hear directly from our successful older Girl Scouts - into college and careers! 7th and 8th grade Girl Scouts should join this committee as this meets part of the requirements for the “Amaze” Journey.

PITTSFORD CELEBRATES
Help with the Pittsford Girl Scouts Service Unit booth at Pittsford Celebrates. Coordinate the booth and help with activities - you will not only spend time with your Pittsford Girl Scouts community - but the entire Pittsford community! Older girls can earn leadership hours by either being the Coordinator, or by working the booth to lead the younger girls at the booth, and the little girls in our community that visit the booth. This is a once-a-year event.

SCOOP
This is the Pittsford Girl Scouts Committee scheduling fun activities for our Older Girl Scouts! Troops come together for fun events designed specifically for Older Girl Scouts. Our goal is to have 3 to 4 SCOOP events per scouting year, so if you could assist with just one event, that will work for this Committee! We have many "tried and true" activities that are easy to plan and traditionally loved by the girls, but we also always welcome new and creative ideas!

SCOUTING FOR FOOD
Scouting For Food is a community-wide, all scouting (Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts) event, in which Troops are assigned routes in Pittsford to leave bags for donations one weekend, and then the following weekend, the bags with food and clothing are picked up by our Scouts and brought to the warehouse for sorting and donation. The Committee organizes the announcements, coordinates the Troops and routes, distributes the bags and coordinates the collections. Older girls are always eager to volunteer at the warehouse - it is a morning of fun!

TRUNK & TREAT
Trunk & Treat is a Fall event (right around Halloween) in which Older Girl Scouts decorate a vehicle trunk with displays and treats, which are all brought together in a parking lot (lots of creativity here!). The Younger Girl Scouts dress up in their Halloween costumes and “trick or treat” at each vehicle. Great for pictures!
